I have a laptop that when I try to log on in either standard or safemode...I type in my password at the account screen ,hit return, windows starts to log me in but then proceeds to log me off and bring me back to the account listings.

I don't even get to see my desktop.

I have 2 (including administrator) account on this computer and both do the same thing.

I have tried the repair console CHKDSK /r, but it did not help

Any ideas

If youre using XP Profesional try pessing ALT+CTRL+DELETE for the normal
login prompt( 2000-like) that try logging in as administrator from that prompt
it's woth a try!

if that doesn't work, try rebooting, and make sure that caps isn't on and
that the input locale is the same as before( just a guess)

the problem is not the password, on of the accounts doesn't even have a password (limited) the Administrator password works fine. it gets passed the initial logon screen where is says loading settings then skips directly to saving settings
