error loading operating system

i need help on my computer. everytime i boot it up, i would get a message
that says "Error Booting Operating System". i have tried reinstalling
windows xp and windows server. i have took the battery out for the bios.
when i tried installing red hat linux 9 on it, it works. my hard drive is a
40 GB western digital.
please help me. thank you.

You took the battery out? Did you replace it? New one? Reset all BIOS
settings?

i didnt get a new battery but all the settings went back to the original
settings.

Stay with Red Hat it's a better OS.
