Error in Windows Vista--

I am using Vista RC-1
I have down loaded all the Gadgets and they work fine.
But which gadget or Vista program causes an error at start up. Which says:

The error states that my computer will share this
location--------------
"C:/user/john/appdata/local/temp/WPDNSE"
I try to erase the directory which is empty but it states that it is
shared. After eraseing the directory it is still there. Am I being observed
by a hacker or is it part of a program?

I believe that error is related to WMP 11 and sharing. Look
in WMP's Options under the Library tab. You'll see "Sharing"
click the configure button and see what it says. I think if you
enable file/folder sharing it throws up that error.

My sharing was turned off . But my find media that others are sharing was
turned on. Which I turned off. I will see if that corrects the start up error.

Thank You

I noticed similar errors with Windows / msn Live Messenger 8, which installs
or offers by default shared folders, too.

This is fixed for Vista RTM. That particular location is not really shared,
and it is used only to hold temporary files created by the Windows Portable
Devices Namespace Extension (i.e. the folder view into portable devices and
USB keys). On initialization, the NameSpace Extension asks the Shell to
recursively delete this location, and the Shell was misinterpreting the
inherited protection bits on the folder (as well as ignoring the request to
do it silently)... thus the prompt.

Hi,
I figured this out but it takes a little work.
If you go into windows explorer first you need to go the the
menu bar on top where it says "organize" drop that down
Click on folder and search options, then view, then hit the
radio button that says "show hidden files and folders" and hit OK
Then go the the folder
C:\Users\account name\AppData\local\temp\WPDNSE
The account name in the above path stands for all the user names
that have limited account access, except the one you're signed in under.
You have to go to this folder "WPDSNE" for each account name, they all have
one.
When you get to the above folder right click on it and choose properties and
then click on the security tab and then edit and on the permissions deny
control
(check all deny boxes, if you check the top one all of them will check.) to
all the limited user accounts. Don't do it for admin accounts or system
account or the
account you're signed in under at the time you edit this folder permission
You then sign on to all the other accounts that are getting this popup
and do the same but don't do it for the account you're signed under.
You only deny permission to the accounts you're not signed in under.
If you do this with each account you'll eventually cover them all.
I only had two accounts so I only had to do it twice.
It sounds hard but once you do the first folder you'll get the hang of it
quickly.
It workedfor me I hope it works for you...good luck
