Error in pdf file

I have a document that is fine in Word (XP), but when converted to pdf with
Acrobat 6.0 some of the items in a numbered list have Error! Reference source
not found next to them. Even after updating the fields, I do not get any
error messages in the Word document - just in the pdf.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could change the fields to regular text by clicking on the fields and
then CTRL+SHIFT+F9. Then create the pdf file. If you need to keep the file
with fields, use a backup copy.
