Error importing updated component

I think there's some basic misunderstanding on my part about the management
of repositories and the XPE database, etc. I am trying to update a
previously-released component. My system is XP Pro, I have administrative
privs on my local PC, and the XPE database is locally installed (i.e., no
networked DB server). I updated the version numbers on both the component
and repository, and when I try to import the component the Db Mgr gives me
the following error:

Copying 'War-ftpd' repository files to
\\353HQ10246\Repositories\{B0B6562C-C675-420C-B2B0-87766A0943D7}
Error: Cannot delete repository files in the target folder. Please make sure
you have write access to the files.

The following files have not been imported
D:\CC_Views\cfdevel\pcflex\cflex\xpe\component\war-ftpd\war-ftpd.sld

File(s) Processed : 1, File(s) Succeeded : 0

This has occurred numerous times in the past, as well as on my previous PC.
Since I don't have a whole lot of time to flog around on this problem, I'm
tempted to just create a new repository and use that for the updated
component. Of course, I can't do this every time I make a change during
development.

I'm not a Windows security expert, but I can't imagine why I would not have
the necessary access privileges. Looking at the security attributes, it
certainly looks like I have all necessary permissions, the same as most
other files on the disk. I know that I can delete any of the files in the
repository from Windows Explorer, so where is the permission failure
occurring?

Doug,

If you setup your XPe Tools to access DB through a network path
(\\machinename\xxx) it is the network permissions.
If you dopn't want to think about that, change the path (in CDM) to a local
path.
Ohterwise, make sure that the user you are logged in has enough permissions
to write and change files on the network share.

Usually, when i update components with repositories, I delete repository
directories first.

I'm not running a network and I'm logged on as with an administrator
account. I see the same errors each time and the only way I've found to get
around it is to do as you suggested, delete the rep. manually. Doesn't seem
right.

It does not matter. XPE Tools by default create a network shaare with read only permission for Everyone.
this needs to be change either by changing to local paths or changing permissions.

Unfortunately, this is how tools work these days.

AHA! I fixed it by going to my repository directory, selected Sharing &
Security, then on the Sharing tab clicked Permissions. I saw the "Everyone"
entry, so I added my own username and gave myself Full Control. Brought up
CDM and imported my updated component with no errors, including updating the
repository files.

Thanks a lot! I had asked this question a couple times before with no
helpful responses. I had been looking at all the folder permissions and
didn't think to look at the network sharing permissions.
