I have hundreds of this error listed in Component Services Application Events:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Search Service
Event Category: Gatherer
Event ID: 3083
Date: 8/11/2009
Time: 09:17:00 AM
User: N/A
Computer: JERRYCOMPUTER
Description:
The protocol handler IEPH.HistoryHandler cannot be loaded. Error
description: The specified module could not be found. .

It doesn't interrupt anything I'm doing. I'm not even aware that they occur.
What can I do to stop this?
Thanks

I know I posted as having intermediate skills but I do not understand what I
read on the 1st link and I'm not sure why you sent the taskbar plus link. If
you have time would you please be a little more specific.
Thak you

I ran into a similar issue when booting my laptop:

-System
-Provider[ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Search[ Guid] {CA4E628D-8567-4896-AB6B-835B221F373F}[ EventSourceName] Windows Search Service

ChannelApplicationComputerPAPPYSLAPPYSecurity
-EventData
ExtraInfoProtocolHandlerIEPH.HistoryHandlerErrorMessageThe system cannot find the file specified.

It generated and error message on my desktop.

In my application log I also found:

System
-Provider[ Name] .NET Runtime
-EventID0[ Qualifiers] 0
Level2Task0Keywords0x80000000000000-TimeCreated[ SystemTime] 2009-09-02T18:53:55.000Z
EventRecordID1217ChannelApplicationComputerPAPPYSLAPPYSecurity
-EventData
.NET Runtime version 1.1.4322.2407- : Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927f26e)

This appeared prior to the original error. I'm pretty sure it's a silent .NET install process that is failing.

I down loaded a dot net cleanup tool and deleted .NET v1.1 from my system and rebooted. No more error!

Hope my experience helps.
