Error icon - looks like a broken link

Hi,

I am using Windows 98 with Internet Explorer 6.0
When I try to download Google toolbar, instead of getting
the "save" or "open" option when I clik at the download
button, I get this small icon that has a small red
square, blue triangle and green circle at the top
lefthand corner of the browser.

Does anyone know what that means and how I can fix it?
at first I thought I'm missing java or something so I
installed the sun java program but still didn't fix the
issue.

Thanks!!
Kent

Here's the fix, courtesy of Alan Edwards, MVP:

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
(QuickTime by the looks of it and if so, I believe they have a fix)
The key does not normally exist.
