error during first XPlogon

Just installed XP.

when it gets to the very first logon, I get this message-

the system cannot log you on due to the following error

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

the first time i tried to logon, i didnt enter a password.

I tried running in safe mode, and attempted to logon as administrater, and as me, and keep getting the same message

any ideas?

Try logging into workstation only and see if it lets you in.
