ERROR:current header cache file is invalid?

T

tiffany

I am getting this error message on create new message, and there are NO
RESULTS on google for it! User says he didnt do anything different recently.
Could it be a virus?

"You current header cache file is invalid or corrupt. Do you want to replace
it with a new empty cahce?"

So if we say No,. it pops up again all the time.
If we say yes, we loose all the nicknames in the autofill list for the TO:
you know how you type in your common names, like if you type ma in the TO:
field it brings up a little list of mark, martin, marcell, etc when
addressing and email. Well that is the
header cache. And if we click OK on the error message, all those disappear
and we have to rebuild it each day whcih is annoying.
When we restart OUtlook is when it causes Outlook to loose the cache each
time.'

Anyone have any idea what caused this or whow to fix it?

thanks

Well let me check his acocunts and be sure he doesnt have any personal POP
accounts set up. thanks for the tip.

That’s weird. The error usually means there is a problem with the mailbox on
a pop or imap server and doesn't have anything to do with the nickname
cache.

Have you tried Office diagnostics and a new profile?

Ok, he has no other accounts set up but the exchange one,
he also said today when he clicked OK it DID NOT delte his nickname cache
like it did last week. Weird. We assumed that was tied together. maybe it is
not.
What is the solution to fix the error?

I'd run office diagnostics and try a new profile if it continues.

It's hard to say if the nickname cache problem is related - if the profile
is corrupt, the nickname cache gets recreated.
