Error: Connection to your server was interrupted ........

Hi all

A friend of mine using Outlook 2003 has recently been receiving the
following error: (something like)

The connection with the server was interrupted .......

Sending works fine this refers to receiving only.

I checked the various setting and that the timeout was set long enough
- think it's set to 2mins 50secs.

I setup the account on her Outlook Express but the same error
appeared!

Everything has been working fine for months and no changes have been
made.

When I got home I set her account up on my Outlook 2003. The only
difference was I ticked the box to leave a copy of the emails on the
server.

Receiving worked just fine!

I went back to my friends and deleted the account and set it up from
scratch but again the error appeared both on Outlook 2003 & Outlook
Express. The internet is working fine for all other activities i.e.
browsing etc.

The PC is protected with NAV - I did disable this for testing but it
didn't sort the problem either!

Any ideas?

Regards

John

Does she have Symantec AntiVirus POP3 protection turned on? If yes,
please disable it and make sure that incoming mail server is set to the
real incoming mail server and not localhost.

Please try setting up Thunderbird (from Mozilla, freeware) and see if
she has problems receiving mails. If yes, then perhaps there is a
network problem with the ISP.

It's possible there's a malformed message on the server that's preventing
the download. Does the ISP have a webmail interface? If so, check for a
stuck message.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to see my friend again tomorrow and I'll try using a
different email client.

As we both use the same email hosting service and the same ISP it
seems unlikely the fault lies with them but we'll see.

John
