Error Code 10 on netgear USB adapter

I recently put together a computer for my upstairs workspace. I am using a wireless network to allow my computer to acces the internet and other things via a Netgear USB 2.0 wireless adapter. I put the computer together without a hitch and it ran great. I left it running and went to sleep for the night. When I awoke, I shutdown the computer without looking at it and went about my day. Later that day, when I went to check my email, I started up my computer only to be told that my wireless AP (this one, in case that helps http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_details.asp?prodID=218&view= ) could not start error code 10.

I went to the help and it told me to uninstall the device and reinstall it. Did that and same problem. Then it said look for new drivers, done and done, still not fixed.

So finnaly, I went to microsofts KB. it told me that a similar problem occured with a wireless AP of a different type and SP1 fixed it. So, with newly inspired hope, I updated Xp out the ying-yang, only to find that I have the exact same problem.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bob
Below is a paste fro this link
http://www.jsifaq.com/subo/tip7400/rh7481.htm
Code 10
If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that
string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places
this registry string value there. If there is no "FailReasonString" in the
hardware key, the following generic error message is displayed:

This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have
all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the
computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in fully
and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the suggested
solution button and update the device driver. It may be possible to remove
the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware wizard.

Hope This Helps

I too am having this problem and have got the latest
driver for the Netgear EA101 (from Netgear). It still
lists that it is using the one from Microsoft XP
(usb101et.sys).

Did you get this problem resolved?
