Error-checking tool

It does not work, saying "the disk check could not be peformed because the
disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk.
These files can be accessed only by restarting Windows. Do you want to
schedule this disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?"

I wish to check the disk using the tool not restarting the computer. Anyone
know how to correct this?

Hello Ryan,

Run the same command but put " /f" after it. Then you have to put yes a few
times and it should work fine, I think you might have to restart too, and it
will run before the OS fully loads.

Sorry, that is how a disk check works in XP and there is nothing to
correct about it. It is by design.

You can only do it on partitions that the operating system is NOT
running on. So you to do as you request you would need two partitions
and two seperate operating systems installed. And you still could not do
the one you were using, only the unused one. Starting to get the picture?
