error 80073715 reguarding security update kb974318

update will not install, support site says this is a xp update,but i am
running vistaa premium. system crashed after receiving update . had to
restore system with acer recovery discs and it took forever.kb974318 will not
install. i have recieved no further updates since the 26\03\2010. and a
warning in windows update has popped up 2 thirds of the way thru this sytem
restore. When the o.s. crashed, system repair could not automatically repair
system, on board system restore would not function,however the acer restore
from disc function was available.system would not boot into windows in any
mode,safe,safe with networking,last good config.,etc. A blue screen did
appear with the words corrupted registry hive in the upper left corner,with
the start windows normally selection,the usual words" microsoft corpoation"
appeared bottom centre,it did not boot, and the screen remained dark.power
was shut off manually.
