Error 6 Invalid File Handle

I am Getting a "Error 6 Invalid File Handle" right after I get the dialog Box
"Verifying Name and Password". I usually get "Registering on Network" next. I
am using a smaller disk setup with XP Prof SP1 especially to access this
newsgroup as I can't dial out with my Main XP Prof SP1 Machine. I tried
UPGRADING that machine but the error is still there
Can anyone Help

file handle
If this happens, the file variable you are using is trashed; it indicates
that your memory is corrupted." So i'd reinstall whatever program your using.
If that doesn't work then reinstall windows.

It could also mean that one of your sticks of ram has a bad memory chip or
something along that line. I'd go and d/l an Ram checker.

It also happens when a poorly written software is installed. Run a check
for spyware/viruses.

Does the problem occur in Safe Mode? How about Directory Services
Restore Mode? If the problem goes away, then you may want to look up
"Clean Boot".

Programs
-> Do not report errors for these programs:
