File Sync "handle is invalid" error

I have a laptop that does a file syncronization anytime it gets back on the
network from it's local "offline" My Documents to it's network folder for My
Documents. However today an error message came up after synchronization
listing one particular excel file followed by "handle is invalid". Any idea
what caused this or how to fix it so it doesn't happen again?
