Those are all Windows 98 and Microsoft Office 2000. This is Windows 2000
and the Jimco tool. This issue has nothing to do with a CD-ROM. In fact I
have never seen this error in Windows 2000 except for once in 5 years of
using Windows 2000. This was the exception. Trying to install that Jimco
tool.

It's possible the file for the Jimco tool became corrupt during the download process.
( it does happen occasionally when downloading files )

I would download a fresh copy and try the install again.

Yes it might of that's a thought. Else it might be specific to Windows 98.
I do satisfy all the requirements. It's not that my Web Folders atre broken
it's that Windows 2000 does NOT have a Add Web Folder in the Web Folder
namespace. It does have Add a Network location which is what I have always
used. Except I cannot get to some of my virtual directories by that method.
I HAVE to get to them by logging into the Default Web Site then I can use
the folder tree to get to them. I just cannot add them as a My New Network
Place in Windows 2000.

Here's the kicker. I have a Windows 98 2ndEd machine hooked up to my
Windows 2000 Professional using Microsoft Networks Print and File Sharing in
my Workgroup. That system does NOT have the FrontPage Server Extensions
installed; it does NOT have FrontPage installed; it does NOT have any
Microsoft Office installed; it DOES have Web Folders which contains a Add
new Web Folder. And in that I can get to every Virtual directory on this
Windows 2000. Accessed http:// I can see the structure. But in Windows
2000 when I try to add these virtual FrontPage Extended directories to My
Network Places I get a big fat blank. Nothing. Nada. No files in these
virtual directories; no folders in the virtual directories; no prompt for
user name\password. NADA. Nothing. Nothing at all. Window is BLANK; No
flashlight searching. Nada nothing.

So I assume my Server extensions are broke there. I've tried everything I
can think of besides reformatting to get these FrontPage Extended virtual
folders to be accessible from My Network Places and every attempt has been
futile. Till I came across the Jimco tool. And that burped trying to
install. I could try it again. We'll see how that goes. But I'll be
honest with you I don't think it works in Windows 2000. We'll see...

You have a web folder issue on your Win 2000
and it can be from many causes - MDAC, MSO, Win 2K SP
- thus the 1911 error

See if reregistering the web folder helps
"Start"->"Run" to run the following commands one by one.

Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\oledb32.dll"
Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\msdaurl.dll"
Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\msdaipp.dll"

This will register the required information (Web Folders) for the "Open
Web" feature in FrontPage. Also, please make sure the user is able to
access these files with the "Read & Execute" permission. For more
information, refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287402

Also you may have a web folder cache problem. You can try

1. Close all Office Apps
2. Open a command window (Start-->Run-->cmd)
3. Kill Explorer.exe
(Start-->Shutdown-->Alt+Ctrl+Shift and click the Cancel button)
4. At the command prompt type in: cd %appdata%\microsoft
5. Then type: rmdir /s msdaipp
6. And finally restart explorer by typing: explorer.exe

OK thanks Stefan. Let me ask you this before I go messing around with my Server Extensions. Let's
assume they do work just as expected in the Default Web Site application. For that is the case. Let's
also assume they do NOT work as expected in any FrontPage Server ExtendedVirtual directory that is
only a subfolder of the Default Web Application. They are NOT physically subfolders of Inetpub.
They are sub FrontPage Server Extended Virtual directories of the Default Web Application. Because
this is also the case.

So my question here is this. If any of these dlls you mentioned was NOT registered correctly would
the FrontPage Server Extensions even work at all anywhere?

Lastly your last suggestion is interesting. I have never seen that before. You are saying kill the shell.
OK. Then remove the directory and all sub directories of ... sorry I do not have this folder msdaipp in
G:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data. Nothing is hidden. OK this is Windows
2000 SP4 FrontPage 2003 ONLY. Microsoft Office 2000 SP1 no FrontPage 2000. So I don't
think this suggetion is going to do anything other than close the shell.
