In trying to correct a problem with a popup ad trojan
virus, DownloadPlus.exe, I deleted the Windows file
msiexec.com, where it looked liked the trojan had taken
over. It seems to have cured the popup ad problem.

Now I am having problem with updating programs which
require this file. Getting this message: "The Windows
Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed". Unsuccessful
with both method one and two fixes suggested in Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 315346.

What am I doing wrong, or not doing?

Thanks,

Charles

This might help - I found it in another posting. It comes

Trojans are stealthy and not always found by anti-virus
software. If you find suspicious processes running or task
manager or regedit is being killed after opening, you
might want to try one of the following tools to check for
trojans (after scanning with at least two anti-virus tools
to get rid of the easy stuff).

DiamondCS TDS-3 - Trojan Defence Suite (TDS), leading anti-
trojan system for Windows: http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/
