Hi all,

I have Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I get a Windows Installer Error 1406
"Error 1406. Could not write to value key
\CLSID\{d27cdb70-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000}\ IprocServer 32. Verify that
you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

When I install the same program on an XP Pro machine, it works fine.

Funnily enough I tried installing the program on the XP Home machine as a
normal user and also as an administrator.

Any ideas?

Ivan,

Have you checked the Permissions for that registry key? Make sure that the
Administrators and the SYSTEM group have full control over that key, and
sub-keys.

Hi,

Well, first... that key is created during installation so it won't be
available before. Secondly, I checked the CLSID key and both the Admins
group and System have full control.

that key is created during installation so it won't be available before.

Not necessarily the case. What if it's an upgrade of existing software
(flash)? With the limited info you posted, that's the only thing I could say
/ guess.

Another thing which I can think of is to try SubInACL to reset HKCU
permissions to defaults.
