Error 1324: The path My Documents contains an invalid character

Over the past week, I have tried several ways to get WD to install. I have
downloaded it to the Desktop, to My Documents, and even to my Program Files
Folder.

I am running Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 and all the latest MS updates.

I have disabled my Anti-virus program while trying to install. I was told by
one person that I should uninstall my Zonelabs Zonealarm firewall and use MS
firewall, which I have done.

I have checked the My Documents path, and I see no invalid characters.

I have run Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-aware to see if there may be spyware
causing this problem, but scans come up clean.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for trying to help, Engel, but neither of the posts helped.

The first one about checking the Registry showed both items as a value of 0.
The only other item under Filesystem in the registry is
Win95TruncatedExtensions which is set to 1. I have considered changing this
to 0, but since I don't know what it would do, I am refraining from doing so
at this time.

The second one was about Win NT 4.0 and invalid Usernames. I do not have
"Windows on Wall Street" installed, nor does my Username have a forward slash
(/) or any punctuation mark for that matter.

Any further assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I think I may have found my problem. After you posted those 2 knowledge
base articles, I did my own search. One article I found was more generic. It
stated to do a regedit and search for the offending folder name through the
registry. When I began the search, I started finding several instances where
the "My Documents" folder pointed to a different drive.

Apparently, I have "My Documents" showing on drives C:\, D:\, and E:\.

So, best thing I can think of to do is to backup my files, wipe and
reinstall fresh. Thank you for your time.
