Error 0x80ee000c / SIP Transaction timed out

Hi All,

I get the following message when trying to perform Application Sharing
using Messenger:

Error 0x80ee000c
SIP Transaction timed out

I *assume* that this is the reason why our sharing/whiteboard sessions
never connect, and that if we can fix this, it'll work.

To answer the obvious questions
- Firewalls: This is over the internet - each end via a Netgear router
on NAT that supports uPnP. Neither have software firewall
- I've tried with and without the "Netmeeting" ports forwarded through
the routers
- MSN Messenger 7.5, and the latest Windows Messenger (as from XP SP 2)
on both

I've also been getting another error before this, to the effect of
"User is busy" and "SIP Code 486: Busy". Looking up that SIP code, it
is indeed a busy signal; but I don't know why I get it. There's very
little on the web wrt that code and MSNM in proximity, so I guess I'm
lucky enough to have a rare error.

Can anyone help? I've been struggling with this on and off for 3
months, and I can't see what it could be.

Thanks!

Damian

I'm having the same problem. I've opened up port 1503 through my Netgear
router, turned off the Microsoft firewall on that port - even turned off the
firewall entirely. It seems to be a router issue at this point. Have you had
any luck finding an answer?

Hi Diane; no, I haven't. I've tried a load of things, and recently
reflashed and reset the router, but to no avail.

I'm currently planning to buy a replacement router of a similar spec;
I'll post back how I get on.
