Error 0x80090006

Today I came home to find my computer had a different theme to it. I
tried changing it, but could not get it back to the generic Windows XP
theme. So, I thought that I may have a virus. I tried to open my
antivirus software to check. It would not however open. I soon
discovered that none of my programs would open. So, I shut it down and
tried to reboot. Upon rebooting a message appeared that read, "A
problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the licensce for
this computer. Error 0x80090006." It ends up getting stuck on the
"Welcome" screen. I am now on another computer trying to find help.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

The first thing I would do is move the disk to another
computer as a second disk and run scandisk or the XP
equivilant. Sounds like a lot of disk failures I have
seen.
