Error 0X800710dd - please help

I have spyware causing me trouble, but after i have scanned it with Windows
Defender i cannot delete the spyware that is causing me problems. Everytime i
try and delete or quarantine the spyware the following error occurs:

Windows Defender Error: 0X800710dd
Operation identifier is not valid

Any help you can provide is helpful!!!

Can you do this? Recall the time of the scan that originally identified the
spyware.

Right-click My computer, choose Manage.

Click on the Plus sign next to Event logs.

Click on the System event log.

Go to View, and choose Filter.

In event source, choose "WinDefend"

in the right pane, scroll back to the time of the scan and look for the
yellow-triangle marked record that was the original detection. double-click
that record in the right pane to see the details of the detection. There's
a copy to clipboard button that will allow you to copy the info back to this
message thread, and perhaps we can make sense out of the detection and see
what may be going on.

On a more prosaic note, you could also try restarting Windows in safe mode
and doing the removal operation to see whether it might succeed then--Safe
mode prevents some non Microsoft processes and drivers from loading, so
cleaning and scanning have a better chance to see what is really going on.
