Windows Defender Error Message

XP, SP2.
windows defender error 0x800710dd. What does this mean, and what can I do
about it? I notce other people on the web are having the same problem! Is a
virus causing this?

The Beta version expired today. Go into Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs, remove WD, then on MS site load fival version of WD.

latest version and everything is working great!!
