Defender in Vista Home Premium.
Can't check for definition updates and error code as above.
Any suggestions?

Well, our usual response to 0x80070005 under XP was to send users to
Windows Update and have them do an Express update repeatedly until nothing
further was downloaded, but really this error indicates a permissions
problem. So given that your on Vista, I think perhaps I should recommend
that you look at this posting, and ask you to give us feedback on your
experience, specifically in regard to the permission settings on your
system.

....oh and also under the XP version of WD to ensure that they were running
on an Admin authority account while attempting a WD update after all other
Windows updates were Express installed. Sorry, I forgot to add that item to
my comments previously.
