Erratic Scrolling/ XP Pro and Vista Hardware?

Is there a hardware conflict between a vista computer and an older XP OS? We
have purchased two new computers specifically to run our medical software.
The two new machines were preloaded with Vista. Initially machines
functioned properly, but we found our Medical software wouldn’t run on Vista,
so we were required to downgrade the new computers to a Windows XP OS. They
wouldn’t allow dual boots for whatever reasons so we reformatted the drives
and spun them up with Windows XP Pro. Programs appear to work properly, but
are slow and shuddering. Went attempting to scroll down a page it hops and
doesn’t scroll smoothly.
Any ideas? Should I repost in a different Vista Category?
Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like you need to update some drivers installed. Maybe for your
motherboard and video card.

After you have resolved the issues you can then dual boot if you want by
installing Vista from XP.
