Erratic scrollbar movement in WinXP

whether on a web page, or in folders, or any where with a drop down menu,
scrollbar will move by itself erratically. Even with any program where there
is a slider adjustment, the slider will move itself erratically also. Is
this a MOUSE problem, or a bug, malware, or worse? I am adamant about
keeping my Norton Internet Security up to date, and no viruses have ever been
detected. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks

Is it a laptop with a touchpad?

Hi Mark. No, turning off/disabling Norton had no effect. This problem
occurs more wildly than ever recently... Truly an inconvienence not only in
IE7 and Mozilla, but every app that I use.

I am having the same problem. It happens in any window that has a scroll
feature.

I am using a Dell latitude D531 with Vista business.
Touch pad mouse and OB Keyboard are disabled when USB Mouse and KB are
plugged in.

i only get this problem when external KB and Mouse are used and it only
happens when I move the mouse. Its like the scroll wheel thinks its being
used and the page scrolls down and up randomly.

Also when I am in outlook if I drag and drop emails to other folders the
mouse seems to forget I am holding the left button down and drops emails whee
ever the mouse is at the time it decides. the same time the scroll moves
again.

Its like its losing full comunication with the USB mouse and its driving me
nuts!
