Epson R800 Won't Feed Paper

G

Greg

I have a nearly-new Epson Photo R800 that will no longer feed paper. I
have followed all the troubleshooting instructions in the manual and
on Epson's web site but nothing helps. I have tried fanning the paper,
inserting one sheet at a time, making sure all driver settings are
correct, etc..

When I try to print, the printer goes through all the motions of
feeding the paper, but the paper will not go into the printer from the
sheet stack.

The problem seems to be this: On the right-hand side of the sheet feed
mechanism there are two grey rubber-like rollers that are apparently
supposed to pull the paper into the printer. The one on the top is
about 2 inches in diameter and has one side flattened. The other is
round and about 1/2 inch in diamter. When you print, the paper is
supposed to feed between these rollers into the printer. The large top
roller is turning and trying to pull the paper in. I am guessing that
the smaller bottom roller is also supposed to be turning, but it seems
to be locked in place and does not turn. The top roller turns, but the
bottom roller doesn't, so the paper is not pulled into the printer.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.
