Epson R1800- one nozzle not working

Hi,
Suddenly printing out the nozzle check on my R1800, the red is blank. I have tried
numerous cleaning cycles, which just empties the cartridges, even the red.

Is there anything I can do besides contacting Epson?

Warm regards,

Is the printer under warranty? If so then call Epson first.
If not then...

you could try creating a cleaning cartridge and first pulling out some of
the ink in the nozzle with a syringe ( just pushing heavily against the
nipple and not using the needle itself) and then quickly installing the
cartridge to avoid air being pulled in instead of the cleaning fluid. The
reality of the red going empty is that the cartridge is still full, but the
chip is indicating that it's used ink by cleaning. What you need is a chip
resetter. for the red so you can use the cartridge again, if the cleaning
cartridge works. I would make a mixture of 10/90 ammonia/alcohol and let it
sit for several hours before starting cleaning cycles again.

Additionally, if this doesn't work I would get in touch with Arthur Entlich,
who is a very knowledgeable contributor to this NG. You will see his posts
an email address usually with anything to do with an Epson clog. He has a
manual that covers the Ultrachrome inks in addition to the other varieties.
