Epson Projecting Red Square, Not Video

I'm running Windows XP, PPT 2002-SP3, Windows Media Player 9, and a .wmv
movie. It plays just fine on the laptop, but the image projected shows
through the Epson shows only the windows media player and a red square where
the video should be. I've cycled through "Function - F4" and can get the
movie showing properly on the external Epson projector, but then the laptop
screen is entirely blank. I can't get the movie playing on both the laptop
screen and the external projector. Any thoughts??

This is an issue of the computer's graphics card. Check here for some
additional information and steps you can take to make it work (this is based
on making video's work through PPT, but the same info is prevalent):

Your other option is to go into CONTROL PANEL >> DISPLAYS and change the
primary display to be the external display. Of course this means your laptop
monitor will show the black (or in your case red) square.
