Epson Printer & Windows XP

I have an Epson Stylus Color 460 Printer and have tried to install it
on the laptop in Windows XP. I've been told that the driver is not
compatible with XP and went to the Epson web site. There I was told
"Windows XP drivers for your product are not available from our
download library. Use the drivers supplied on the MS Windows XP
CD-ROM (which I haven't got) or use the latest Epson Windows 2000
drivers."

I downloaded the Windows 2000 driver (sc460_50a) to the desktop and
unzipped it but I still cannot install the printer.

Can someone tell me what else I can try please?

Yes, you are right, there is not a driver for XP.
According to my experiences, you need another driver complient with your
machine.
Sometimes, you can find a modified driver from someone, by searching on
the internet.
You can simply type stylus color 460 into a search engine.

From the start menu, select "Printers and Faxes". On the left of the
window that comes up, select "Add a printer". This starts the printer
wizard.

If the Wizard doesn't find your printer, then go back and uncheck the
box that says "Automatically detect and install plug and play printers"
and move on through the screens. It will take several minutes to compile
a list of available printers (there are thousands of them). Select Epson
from the left hand pane then Epson Stylus 460 PCL/6 from the right hand
pane and continue.
