Epson CX4600 not printing - Epson "support" closed until Monday

I have an Epson Stylus CX4600 that was working perfectly when I boxed
it up last (a month ago or so). I pulled it out of the box and set it
up, and it printed a test page that looked like "draft" quality. I
printed another page and it started to have missing spots (like when
the heads need cleaning). However, cleaning is supposedly using ink
(so says the ink monitor) but now when I print I get NO INK on the page
at all.

I need to print proofs tonight, for viewing tomorrow by 8:30 am. :-(
Epson apparently now has NO telephone support on the weekends at ALL.

HELP!!!

Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix this tonight?

jc

p.s. I have a 25 year old Epson dot-matrix printer that still works
perfectly (although getting ink ribbons can be difficult). This CX6400
printer *was* working fine until this present problem. I have an Epson
1520 that was given to me (used) that has a clogged black ink jet and
is now a doorstop. I was given an Epson 2200 (new, birthday gift) that
has NEVER worked right (with serious color problems and yes I've
profiled the printer and monitor several times). Based on Epson's
track record, it's becoming obvious that this isn't the same Espon that
made my old dot-matrix printer. I don't plan on buying another Epson
product ever again. With this non-support plus the ink jet clogging
plus the color management problems it's clear to me that Espon has
forgotten how to build a product that "just works" like my old printer.

Remove the brackets leaving no space

So what you are saying is, you have a CX4600 printer thats clogge
along with 2 others that you had problems with, excluding th
dot-matrix which would be ok with a new ribbon, not a very goo
record really

I had two Epsons one clogged on the 2nd day, the replacement somewhil
later clogged on the 4th day all with OEM inks

I decided I had had enough of Epson and was 'hell bent' on a Canon, s
I ended up getting an IP5000 over 'about' 4 months old now, I'm losin
count, I have not had one single clog to date nor ever done a manua
head clean

I know what I would do and that is to try an alternative brand Cano
or not

What you should have done to store it was probably insert a cleanin
cartridge, give a couple of flushes and leave it in situ and the
when the time comes to use it, give it another flush, replace wit
new ink tanks and another couple of flushes'

It really is all 'try it and see' but do feel that is your best bet,
once a printer stops being used I guess you'll find some that work
and some don't even with the same models

No one can say a printer will or will not clog after 2 week's of no
use, it does appear to me the Epson are more prone to clogging, yo
only need to view various forums and user reviews on shopping site
to form your own opinion

THE PRINTHEAD IS CLOGGED. ARE YOU USING AFTERMARKET INKS.

IF SO YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU GOT.

IF NOT BUY A CANON

I also have an MX-80 and an FX-100 packed away in the garage!

About the only quick fix might be to soak a rag in Windex (window cleaner
with ammonia), wipe off the print head and find a way to let the print
head rest on the saturated rag for a while. You might also soak the pad
where the head rests when parked.

I've never had to resort to this, so don't know what kind of mess it might make.

Sadly, I was not on line the last two days, or I could have been more
helpful.

The printer likely needs an underhead cleaning.

For a document explaining how to clean the heads on Epson printers,
please email me at:

(dot) = .

There is no charge for this and you will not be spammed. However, it
can take up to 48 hours for a response.
