Epson C70 woes...

A while ago I posted about my Epson C70. The black cart had run out and the
colour ones were low. I bought some compatibles.

Either the black compatible was really crap or, since it had been a while
since the printer had run out of black, the print head was clogged, and
printing a test page was unsatisfactory, as parts of black were showing but
didn't get the crisp prints that I was used to. So I tried nozzle cleaning,
to no effect. So I repeated it, and attempted to print more test pages.
Until the nozzle cleaning used the remainder of my original colour
cartridges.

However, on installing these, the printer refused to recognise them, any of
them, after repeated re-install attempts. These were returned to the
supplier for a refund.

So, I have four options, as I see it. Chance another type of compatible, a
new set of genuine Epsons, or refilling them, bearing in mind that the black
isn't printing right, or a new printer.

Which would you go for?

Write an email to Arthur Entlich at (e-mail address removed) and ask him for his
monograph on cleaning head clogs in Epson printers. Excellent information.
When I was using an Epson printer I always had an OEM cartridge set on hand
to install after cleaning the head with Arthur's info. If the printer is
able to be saved, following his advice will do it for you.

I'd go for my Epson cleaning manual first.

If you email me, I'll send you a free copy.

One faulty cartridge can happen.
Two faulty cartidges of different colours out of a batch of three, that's a
miracle: run for President / Prime Minister / Pope.
Three faulty cartridges of three diffrent colours out of a batch of three,
that's impossible, the "fault" is not with the cartridges (compatibles or rip
off genuines); the supplier to whom you returned them was defrauded of the cost
of 3 cartridges.

Well, I don't know, as I've never used compatibles before. However, the
originals were being recognised as being empty, the printer just refused to
recognise the colour compatibles at all. However, it did recognise the black
compatible with no problems.
