Epson 880

I have been using my Epson 880 for about 1 1/2 years now. I hav
printed a fair amount, both black and color as well as a number o
photos

I have been noticing some fine black "ink lines" runnin
under my text randomly. Sometimes there are many...sometimes only
couple of lines. I have tried to clean as best that I can, but to n
avail. I even tried to blot up some excess ink from the spong
underneath where cleaninmg the print head takes place. I think I nee
to get the printing head out and clean it underneath. Is there any wa
to do this without a whole lot of trouble?. I really like my 880 an
want to keep it going clean. Other than that problem it works ver
well. Any help would be appreciated

Hi bilito,

This is usually caused by a fine thread of dust or hair caught
underneath the printhead, you may need to take out the printhead to get
it out if you can't gently get it out with tweezers..

If you need to examine underneath the head then pulling it is hardly that
big a deal. Removal of the cartridge snap tops and then two screws will
allow one to remove the head. The 880 was one of the best models Epson
designed. Cheap to run on decent third party cartridges, high quality
prints, and quiet as well. The good old days.
