envelope does not print

Just installed a HP Deskjet 5940 into my computer (XP pro). Printer works
fine with documents, but will not print envelopes. When I place the envelope
in and the feeder takes it, it locks up, printer lights come on and I have to
feed it thru. What is the problem? Also, I have it set to Envelope Size 10.

When you give the Print command Word simply hands the data off to the
printer, so the first thing I would suspect is the printer driver. Even
though it is a 'new' printer to you, it could have been on the retailer's
shelf/in transit for months. Check the HP web site for an update or related
issue for which they may have a patch.

Even if no update/fix is available, try re-installing the driver.
