Under settings "Screen Saver" in Display Properties,
I've set it to turn off monitor in 3 mins of idle and turn
off hard drives off in 5 mins.
These settings work fine for my use and have noticed
every 10 mins or so, the hard drive starts up (not
monitor) for 5 mins and then shuts down again.
Another 10 minutes hard drive fires up again for no
apparent reason that I can see. I am running XP SP2
on an ASUS P4PE with 1.7 Gig, 256 Ram, onboard
ethernet, nVidia FeGorce2.
On a recommendation, I downloaded Process Explorer
to find what program is causing this situation and am
not quite sure what I'm looking for but the svchost 1000
seems to activate something but it also seems to
control many programs so not quite sure where to go
from here.
Any suggestions would be appreciated...
