end program not respopnding

Hi there,

My computer (running on XP home) has got problems with
shutting down. A dialogue box pops up to 'end the program
DEVLDR' (something to do with a driver??), when I click
on 'end now' the computer will not shut down. When I check
the task manager there is no program running. Sometimes
the computer wil shut down the way it's supposed to, but
not very often.
Does anyone know what to do about this little hick-up?
