encryption - recovery of a file

I reformated the win 2000 operating system partition.
Several files which were encrypted were saved to another
partition and now can't be opened even though the
original passwords and username are the same. Any easy way
to recover these?
 
Not likely you'll see those files again, unless the computer was joined to a
Windows domain. You have to back up your EFS encryption key for such an
emergency. The best article on your available options is at
