enabling direct x

I recently purchased a game for my pc but cannot run it as it states it could
not create the graphics because direct x was not active. I ran a diagnostic
tool and direct x tested okay. Thought maybe I would download the latest
version (I have 9.0) but microsoft failed with the installation (to try at a
later time--was the error message) anyway, can anyone help with how to I
enable?? or what do I need to do? --need it kind of simple. Thanks

it may be installed but do you have software installed that blocks it, ie
spyware blaster, blocks it

thank you--I thought that would do it but I disabled my web shield as my
spyware is a "component" and still could not get directx enabled. thanks
again for the timely response.

Well I've been trying for 2 weeks & still get the same error that you & others on
here,have been getting.
When you go to download it,it says that the file size in only 295KB, then it
downloads almost instantaneously.
When the Direct X window comes up,the "I do not accept... " & the "I accept..." lines
are both unticked. This is quite out of the ordinary, since the "I do not accept..."
line is usually already ticked & requires removing it by ticking the "I accept..."
line.
I ended up downloading the full version, but check the runtime web installer from time
to time,to see if it was ever resolved, & can't believe that it's still like that.
Well, hopefully,in a couple of weeks, the Dec. runtime installer will be out & we'll
see if this 1 works.
