Direct x 9.0

Problem Description: I recently purchased a game by EA and after
installation, it states unable to create graphics due to direct x not active.
I ran the diagnostic tool and it tested every component as working. Then I
went to microsoft site to make sure I had the latest direct x and when
attempting to download the november 2008 version states failure--to try again
later or check network connections. The network connections are working and
I have tried for 2 days now. How do I enable my direct x? or download
whatever the latest version is?? Thus be able to reinstall the game purchased
Please help.

What do you get if you type dxdiag (click ok) in the run command.

Sometimes, this type of message "could" indicate that the graphics
card that you have might not meet the "minimum" requirements for the
game.

Without known the name of the game, all recommendations will be
"general."

Recommendations:

1) Download and install motherboard chipset drivers

2) Use a separate video cards instead of on-board video card. Most
games are usually expecting a video card based on the two "top" grade
video card chip makers Ati and nVidia

3) Download all driver updates from the Internet and then disconnect
from the Internet. Disable any antivirus software before updating
the drivers.
