Enable Incoming connections over IrDA.

I moved my home PC to a new case that has an Infra Red port. I connected it
to the mainboard and set the BIOS to use IrDA mode instead of COM2. Then I
made a temporary Windows XP installation, and from the Network Connections
folder, Add new connection I enabled "Incoming connections" over IrDA. When
a mobile phone with enabled Infra Red port gets in range, it is
automatically detected by the computer and I can transfer files in both
directions.

So far so good, but my home PC has Windows 2003 server. I copied and
installed the drivers from XP to the 2003 server:
[Built-in Infrared Device]
netirsir.inf
irclass.dll
irmon.dll
irprops.cpl
irftp.exe
irda.sys
irenum.sys
irsir.sys
serial.sys
Device manager says "This device is working properly.".

There are two problems:
1. In network Connections, New Connection Wizard", there is no option called
"Setup Incoming connections". Do I need to enable some service and which?
2. If I say "Setup advanced connections", "Accept incoming connections" or
"Connect directly to another computer", I see COM1 and LPT1, but the Infra
Red device is not listed like in XP.

How do I activate this functions under Windows Server?

Thanks for any help and web-links!

Hello George,

You have to find the correct driver for 2003. But i am not sure if a SERVER
operating system will work with IR.

Best regards

XP SP2 has serious problem with IrDA which is common. Even you have
"Wireless Link" on control panel, when you double-click on it nothing
happens, no dialog boxes or error messages, eventhough you have
necessary irftp.exe and irmon.dll kinda.

I actually used Windows XP service pack 3 RC and it worked fine there.
Then I copied the drivers from it to the Windows 2003 server. The driver is
installed and working properly.
In Network Connections:
2. If I say "Setup advanced connections", "Accept incoming connections" or
"Connect directly to another computer", I see COM1 and LPT1, but the
Infra Red device is not listed.
