enable domain login

I have domain login previously on my win 2000Pro. I
accidentally disabled it when I try to install home
network( add a new network in Network Connection), and
now when I reboot my laptop it only has login id and
password and NO domain login and won't let me login. I
was able to use emergency boot diskette to access my c:
but do not know what else to do to enable the domain
login during startup. Can anyone help me how to login
without the domain login or how to enable it during
startup??

If this is a work computer, take it back to work an explain to them what you did and
have them rejoin it to the domain which may require domain administrator credentials.
If this is your machine and since you can access the drive from a floppy that means
you must not be using ntfs file system. In that case boot to the floppy again and
then rename the "sam file" in the \winnt\sytem32\config folder [ you could use the
command " ren c:\winnt\system32\config\sam samold "] with the understanding that will
remove all users and groups except default installation ones which may or may not be
a problem. Reboot and you will be able to logon to the administrator account using
no/blank password. --- Steve

I followed your instruction and was able to login with
Admin id, Thank you. Problem is now I now have a very
different enviornment I have before and cannot access
files in my doc. I finally found it in 'my computer'
under my domain folder but when I open any files (excel
etc.) its looking for the install disk. I think at this
point i may just want to reformat my hd and upgrade my os
to xp instead.

I am not sure about the Excel issue, but yes you can have a different user profile
for every account that logs onto a computer and the initial profile will be based on
the default profile on the computer. You could try copying those files to your new
profile folder under documents and settings. Usually you can copy a whole profile to
another user profile while logged on as a user who is an administrator that is not
using the profile you want to copy from or two but I believe your old profile will
show as unknown user in system properties/advanced - user profiles since you unjoined
from the domain. --- Steve
