Empty status bar in IE 6.0 SP1

Status bar at the bottom of IE is almost all the time empty. It is there, it
displays the progress bar while loading a page, it displays url when I move
mouse over a link. But it doesn't show padlock, zone information or anythig
on the right side.

A new IE window shows everything correctly, but usually things go wrong
while clicking first favorite. Selecting any menu at the top menu bar also
corrects things.

IE version is 6.0.2800.1106CO, language is finnish and all patches are
installed. OS is Windows 2000 Professional SP4 finnish.
