Embedding .mpg & .avi files into PPT

Is it possible to embed mpg & .avi files into PPT without having to have the
files saved in another area.

I do not however want to use "Pack and Go"

No, you cannot embed videos. Place them in the same folder as the presentation.
Then, and only then, insert them in your presentation. Then when you move or
distribute your presentation move the whole folder. None of the links will
break.
