Run non-blurry video within PowerPoint?

I'm trying to capture a sequence of screen action with mouse picks and menu
choices, then insert it to PowerPoint 2003 for presentation.

If I choose to generate an AVI type the file size is huge -- it works
within PowerPoint but is quite blurry.

If I choose MPG type (a type acceptable by PPT), the file size is about 1/10
the size and that is good. However, PPT doesn't recognize it. Okay, so
Windows Media Player didn't. Using Explorer, I thought I fixed that by
binding MPG type to Media Player. So now the video runs okay with WMP but
inside PPT the video remains blank.

With all these obstacles, there must be a way to run a non-blurry video file
within PowerPoint. What am I doing wrong?
