Emails take a long time to open

Recently, it started taking about 15-20 seconds to open an email. This delay
also occurs when forwarding an email. I asked my ISP if something had
changed in their mail system. They said no but thought that something could
be happening in Outlook. Any ideas what I should look for? Could it have
anything to do with the number of personal folders, saved messages, etc.
Thanks.

Without any info about your configuration it is hard to help you. It could
also be your virusscanner integrating with Office causing you the issue.

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data

Thanks for responding. What kind of configuration info can I provide you?
Also is there a way I can tell if it is the virus scanner causing the problem?

Type of account and version of Outlook is important to start with.

"Could it have anything to do with the number of personal folders, saved
messages, etc"

Since you are asking this providing info about these in your current setup
would be handy if you want us to make recommendations on this for your
setup.

Ouch! This is the initial release of Outlook 2000. No ServicePacks or
security updates have been applied yet. Update it all the way to Office 2000
ServicePack 3 with additional security updates and try again. For this
you'll have to run the update procedure several times at
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate

I have updated to the current levels and am still having the same issue. Is
there a limit to the number of messages, folders ,etc you can have before
performance degrades?
