Emails showing as unread in login screen

Hi

At the login scrren, I have a message saying I have 2 unread emails, even
though I have read all of them. How can I get rid of this message?

I am using Office2003, with SP2 installed, mu OS is XP Home SP2, with all
the latest patches.

The login count is notoriously wrong. Usually it only works with Hotmail
accounts. I've turned it off with TweakUI on all my machines.
