Plain Text email unreadable

K

Kurt

I previously used WinXP & O2K3. Recently I reloaded my machine with Vista &
O2K3. New installation, not upgrade. Ever since the switch, emails from one
specific sender are being received and are unreadable. The emails are in
plain text and the header is readable but the body of the emails are garbage.
I have viewed the emails via webmail and they look fine. when I open
outlook and download the messages into my local PST they are unreadable. I
am using the same version of O2K3 and can't figure this out. I am able to
receive plain text emails from other senders just fine and other recipients
of the unreadable message are not having this problem. What am I missing in
mu outlook config?

I believe it to be plain text, ... it almost looks encrypted. Here is part
of the message and the header:

OK, thanks. That's why I included part of the header info. The wierd thing
is that only messages from one specific sender are being affected. Every
other message is fine with the AV software enabled.

I completely removed the AV software and the issue still exists. received 5
more emails from this specific sender and all are unreadable. This machine
is a new install with Vista Business (SP2) and O2K3. Only a few other apps
have been loaded at this point. Any other suggestions? Switch back to XP
maybe?

Hello,

I've got the same issue; but with OutlookXP and Exchange 2010. never had the issue with any other combination of Outlook (2000,2003,2007,2010beta, express).. nor with Exchange (2000,2003,2007)..

getting annoying now

what did you do in the end?

Clearly not plain text. The header is explicit: this is an HTM
message encoded using BASE64 by the sender. The usual cause of Outloo
not rendering the HTML is configuring an antivirus package to sca
incoming messages. If you have done this, completely uninstall your A
program and reinstall it without the mail scanner. You will be just a
safe and the AV program will not interfere
