emails disappearing

When I open my email and begin "receiving mail," I can see the emails being
added to the top of the list. When the emails stop coming in, some of the
ones I saw initially are not on the list, nor are they in junk email. I know
that at least the ones I have noted do not have offensive content - I know
who sent them and what they were about. Please help.

Ensure that "show all messages" is selected, while viewing the
Inbox>view>current view.
