Emailing Address Objects

K

Keith O'Connell

Hi,

I am coming to Outlook from the position of an Outsider as my wife has asked
me to solve a problem for her. I have installed Outlook for her on her
laptop at home as she now uses Outlook at work. On of the things she wanted
to do was to email tasks, appointments and addresses to her home account
from her work account. When she did this the object (address / appointment /
task) quite happily became an attachment of the outgoing email in the
correct format, but when it arrived at the home computer the attachment had
become a mail item, with little or none of the original information.

I am assuming it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to send a contact
from Outlook to Outlook (same version) by email, but I am dammed if I can do
it? We have now tried it over various networks to and from a selection of
machines

Can anyone suggest what we might be doing wrong. I was certain this would be
a FAQ, but I have Googled myself silly looking for an answer. Can anyone
help us out here?

Keith

Your wife needs to take a few extra steps to ensure that she's creating and
sending messages with such attachments in rich-text format:

1) Allow Outlook to send RTF messages: Tools | Options | Mail Format |
Internet Format. Under Outlook Rich Text options, select "Send using Outlook
Rich Text Format."

2) Create a record in her Contacts folder for her home email address.
Double-click the underlined email address and under Internet Format, choose
Send using Outlook Rich Text Format.

3) Create any message used to send Outlook items to herself by using the
Action | New Message Using | Rich Text command.
