email slow to download

When 20Mb will download over my broadband connection in minutes why is it
that my email via my ISP mail server when only just over 1mb takes ages,
upwards of 10mins? I have "repaired" my MS Office 2007 software and I did
find a repair option in Outlook but now cannot locate it. Advice anyone
please?
 
That is governed by the ISP mail server, nothing to do with OL or your PC
